once upon a time (august 28th 1989), a baby boy was born into the world. toronto, ontario was the place and the time was late into the night.
clark eyota collard is the youngest son to sophia and antoine collard, business owners. his mother is a navajo indian who spent most of her childhood on a reservation in new mexico, his father is a french canadian who grew up in montreal. his older brother,
username, was someone he was close to from the start and as they were growing up, they became attached at the hip even though
username is three years older.
sophia and jonathan collard own a string of restaurants in the toronto area, which have become popular over the years and receive spectacular reviews from critics. during his childhood, clark became used to being in a dining, hustle and bustle atmosphere - he basically grew up in the one closest to their home. to this day, his parents are happily together and live in the same big house they have lived in for almost 25 years.
growing up, clark was a relatively small kid, smaller than his peers in elementary school and middle school and so on. just like any middle school kid, he was teased for his braces and his thick curly hair. it wasn't until high school when he finally grew into his body and his hair and his voice turned deeper and his braces were taken off. that's when he began to receive attention from girls and for the most part, it was unwanted.
username was really the only girl he paid attention to. their parents knew each other well, long before either was even born; though carter wasn't permanently situated in toronto, clark was glued to her side when she came to visit.
it wasn't until his junior year of high school when an older boy came along, from another high school, that clark realized he wasn't into girls at all. he was gay, but it wasn't easy for him to come out. clark's grades slipped and his parents noticed because well, they're parents. when he couldn't keep it in any longer, he let his mom know and she told him she knew all along, so did his dad. a huge weight was lifted off clark's shoulders when they let him know they love him no matter what. his parent's support, love, and trust matters the most to him and he wouldn't risk that to this day.
senior year, clark was accepted to attend the university of toronto and he couldn't be any happier, even after just coming out of a rocky relationship with his first boyfriend. for his major, he decided on history (classical civ) with a little hesitation from his parents, but the subject was something he was obsessed with since he was a little boy. without any real set-in-stone plans for the future, clark knows he has time to figure things out.
in august of 2008, when university began, clark met his first true boyfriend. they clicked instantly and it was surprising; he'd never connected with a person so quick before. it was exciting, exhilarating, and scary at the same time. their relationship wasn't official until november, but the both knew there was something deeper between them way before it turned official. the two had an interesting relationship, since neither are very romantic. they constantly made each other laugh and in public no one could guess that they were together. when clark's boyfriend received a grant offer from rutgers university in new jersey, the two were a little torn, but in the end they ended up transferring to said school mid december of 2008. despite what had seemed to be a strong relationship, the two broke it off in april after fights they had been having. clark wasn't well, but with the support of his best friend xavier
angelini, he was back up on his feet quick and now lives in a tiny beach-house with his roommate
username and his boston terrier,
blue.
though clark's parents were a little hesitant to let their youngest son move so far, they realized that it would only cause conflict to say no, so with promises of visits during holidays and breaks, they waved goodbye for now. clark is still slowly adjusting to longport and new jersey and his new school, but for now, all is good and well.
